Dear CRSS Families,

I hope your summer is off to a wonderful start! Today concludes the second week of summer school at CRSS. Students are here from 9-noon improving their reading and math skills combined with project based learning in the outdoors. Fortunately we have had nice weather all week, although we could use some rain. Below are pictures of our summer school students engaged in learning about plants, socializing, and enjoying place-based learning outdoors too!

Track and Field Day

The last week of school all students participated in Track and Field Day! Heather Teigen, our physical education teacher planned exciting track and field events and fun was had by all! Once again, the weather was on our side!

8th Grade Commencement

8th graders graduated on June 3 and it was bittersweet to see them go. They will be very missed at Cannon River STEM School, but we know it is time for them to spread their wings and begin the next chapter of their lives in high school. Many of the students gave a speech which was the highlight of the evening. They shared their favorite memories at CRSS, who has been their mentor both at home and at school and what they are most looking forward to in high school.

Composting Occurs Everyday!

Thanks to our school Naturalist, Stephanie Rathsack, students in all grades composted on a daily basis. Here's a picture of Miss Stephanie and two students transferring compost from the classroom to the composite site behind Old Main. Ask your children to teach your family how to compost at home this summer!

Thank you parents and guardians, for the opportunity to teach your child core curriculum with an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math at Cannon River STEM School!

Very Kind Regards,

Theresa Gunderson
Interim Executive Director
