Butterfly Garden

 

Every year, 1st grade students have the opportunity to help tag monarch butterflies for Monarch Watch. These butterflies are then released, and with luck will migrate down to Mexico. If they're recovered, information from the tags can be used to learn about the monarch butterfly annual migration.

 

 

In the fall, 1st and 4th graders collect seeds from the Minnesota native plants growing in the butterfly garden. These seeds are cleaned, counted, sorted, and stored for future use.
